
MORE INFORMATION ON BURGLARY AT B-TAGGS IN POCAHONTAS
The Bond County Sheriff's Department is continuing to investigate a burglary in Pocahontas early Wednesday morning. According to the police report, the owner of B-tags Tavern reported that someone entered the building sometime between 1:30-7am Wednesday. Money was taken from the cash register, all video poker machines, jukebox and a cigarette machine. Police say that the amount of money taken is not known at this time. The estimated damage to the machines was around $2,000. The owner also reported around $350 worth of damage to a door that was used to gain entry to the building.
This is the third break-in to a business in Pocahontas over the last month. Funderburk's Gas, Grill and Deli was broken into sometime during the early morning hours of July 18th. An undetermined amount of money was taken from the ATM machine and office area. Leisure Lounge was burglarized on August 1st, sometime after midnight. An unknown amount of money was taken from the cash register and poker machines. The Bond County Sheriff's Department is continuing to investigate all three cases.
GROUNDBREAKING AT KASKASKIA COLLEGE
Another expansion for Kaskaskia College has started on the main campus in Centraila. College officials, local politicians and students braved the heat and gathered Wednesday for the groundbreaking of the new Lifelong Learning Center. This one story, 18,000 square foot building, will house up to six classrooms or meeting rooms at a time.

KC President, Dr. Jim Underwood, said that he hopes the new facility will allow KC to reach even more students, and President Underwood described the groundbreaking as another joyful and proud day for Kaskaskia College. Shores builders, of Centralia, will do the construction and KC will use BLDD architects, the same architects that have worked on the Vandalia Campus.
RECALL ISSUED FOR GREEN BEANS
A recall remains in effect for green beans manufactured by Lakeside Food. The French-Cut, 14.5 ounce cans of green beans, may be contaminated with botulism. The Lakeside green beans are sold nationwide under the labels Albertsons, Happy Harvest, Best Choice, Food Club, Bogopa, Valu Time, Hill Country Fare, HEB, Laura Lynn, Kroger, No Name, North Pride, Shop N Save, Shoppers Valu, Schnucks, Cub Foods, Dierbergs, Favorite, IGA, Best Choice, and Thrifty Made. According to Capri IGA in Greenville, they removed all IGA brand cans of French Style Green Beans from their shelves this past Saturday, due to the recall.
