COUNTY BOARD RATIFIES AGREEMENT WITH CITY OVER INDUSTRIAL PARK
Over the past couple of weeks, a decision was reached, by the Bond County Board and the Greenville City Council regarding a 20-year agreement involving the purchase of land for the Wolf Business Park. On Tuesday night, County Board members ratified the agreement that they had approved at their last meeting, under the direction of State's Attorney Chris Bauer. The City will pay $40,000 a year, for five years, for Bond County's interest in the industrial park.
In other business Tuesday night, County Clerk Randy Reitz, requested to amend the Special Service District budget, due to the Hospital subsidy coming in below expectations. Board members approved the adjustment. David Lynch was appointed to the 911 Board. He will fill the vacancy left by Ronald Leneave.
The Bond County Board agreed to allow the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 1377 to preside over a POW-MIA ceremony on the courthouse lawn at the Veteran's Memorial, on Friday September 21st, at 7PM.
FARM HERITAGE DAYS A SUCCESS LAST MONTH
The monthly meeting of the American Farm Heritage Museum Board was held on Tuesday. Board members talked about the Farm Heritage days last month and commented that they had a very successful time with about 2,500 people coming through the gates. The Tractorcade, kicking off the weekend's events, was also a huge success with 56 tractors participating. They said their looking forward to doing more next year.
The next project, the American Farm Heritage Museum has coming up, is the Fall Festival, that will be held Oct 13th this year. Last year, they added the Outhouse Auction to the event and plan on continuing with the tradition this year and even adding some more.
SORENTO HOMECOMING THIS WEEKEND
The 125th Sorento Homecoming will be Friday through Sunday, August 24th - 26th. On Friday, enjoy blue grass music with Mikayala Roach & DB Railroad. There will be a kids parade at 6:30 followed by a Little Miss and Mr. Pageant Saturday. There will be a school reunion at noon, the Sawyer Brothers Band will play and the big parade starts at 6:00 PM. They will be serving chicken dinners from 4:00 - 8:00 PM. Sunday morning there will be a church service beginning at 10:00 am featuring the group, Crown of Joy. Everyone bring a lawn chair. There will be a garden tractor pull at 1:00 PM Sunday and Tony Rapien's will DJ from 4:00 - 8:00 PM. For more information: call 217-272-4493.
