MADIGAN REACHES LANDMARK SETTLEMENT
Attorney General Lisa Madigan announced Tuesday that she, along with 32 other Attorneys General reached a record 62 million-dollar settlement with Eli Lilly, after a year and a half investigation. The settlement, led by Madigan and Oregon Attorney General Hardy Myers, is the largest ever pharmaceutical consumer protection settlement. The suit was filed over the improper marketing of the anti-psychotic drug Zyprexa. Illinois will receive 3.8 million dollars in settlement funds. Eli Lilly has also agreed to stop making false, misleading, or deceptive claims about the drug.
GREENVILLE MAN SENTENCED FOR THEFT
From the Bond County Courthouse, around December 27th 2007, 49 year-old Herbert Steven Giller, of Greenville, was charged with committing theft from Overland Metals, of St. Louis. Giller was charged with a felony for allegedly stealing a 1981 Pine Semi Trailer. Giller was sentenced to 180 days in Bond County Jail and 30 months probation, to run concurrently with Missouri and Jefferson County probation, along with a fine of $1650.00.
SHOOTER OF 12 YEAR-OLD BOY STILL SOUGHT
The Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis continues to investigate the homicidal death of 12 year-old Dellarian J. Davis, of Madison, Illinois. Marcus T. Powell, age 27, also called "Butterhead," has been identified as a person of interest. Several attempts have been made to locate Powell and a person who claims to be Powell has contacted investigators but has given no indication that he will present himself to police. Powell has listed addresses in East St. Louis and Pontoon Beach, Illinois. Investigators have not ruled out that Powell might be wounded, but checks with area hospitals have been unsuccessful in locating him.
