BOND COUNTY BOARD ANNOUNCES VACANCY ON HOUSING BOARD
The Bond County Board met Tuesday night. Zoning Administrator George Shaw addressed the Board with two special use permit requests. One request was approved for a mobile home to be moved onto a property in Shoal Creek to be used temporarily. A resident in Old Ripley Township wants to move a used mobile home onto a property. The Board approved the request, pending inspection.
The September Sheriff’s report was approved.
The Board announced the vacancy on the Bond County Housing Authority Board. The vacancy will be discussed at the November Meeting.
The Holiday schedule was discussed and tabled until the next Bond County Board Meeting which will be Wednesday, November 4, at 10:00 AM, following a Board Budget meeting.
FREE HEALTH SCREENINGS SO YOU CAN "BE YOUR BEST"
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Greenville Regional Hospital, the Bond County University of Illinois Extension, the Bond County Health Department, and St. John's Hospital in Springfield are presenting an event called "Be Your Best." The program will be Thursday, October 23rd in the Greenville First Christian Church Family Life Center from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. The program includes free health screenings, a non-fasting cholesterol test, bone density test, and blood pressure checks. Flu shots will be available for $20.00. There is no fee but registration is required. To register, call Pat King at the Bond County Health Department at 664-1442, ext. 134.
TODAY'S TECHNOLOGY ALLOWS A VIRTUAL SKATEPARK TOUR
October's Kingsbury Park District meeting was held this week, with discussion of work to be planned for the levee. A future hearing will be held for Truth and Taxation regarding the levee.
The Park District is working on an informational brochure for the Skateboard Park to be given out for Individual and Corporate Sponsors. The District is also working with today's technology by using a Playstation 2 program to help with the design. The program would provide a virtual tour, allowing skaters to try out the park, on the video game, before it is built.
Work is also being done to laser grade Jaycee 1 baseball field along with building new dugouts, reseeding the grass and reconditioning the field.
