TROY MAN DIES IN SINGLE VEHICLE ACCIDENT

 

Madison County Coroner Stephen P. Nonn reported the death of a 24 year-old Troy, Illinois man following an early Sunday morning vehicle crash.  24 year-old Ryan M. Neil, of Troy, was the driver of a 2006 Nissan Titan full-size pick-up truck traveling northbound on Blackjack Road in rural Troy.  For unknown reasons, Neil’s vehicle left the roadway and overturned.  Neil was ejected from the vehicle, and was pronounced dead at the scene by Madison County Coroner’s Investigator Shane P. Liley.

The crash remains under investigation by the Madison County Sheriff’s Department.

SPORTS MEMORABILIA BAZAAR AUCTION

 

Greenville Regional Hospital Auxiliary will hold it's 51st annual Holiday Bazaar on Saturday, December 6. A popular item from past Bazaars is sports memorabilia and this year plenty of sports items will be offered. Items Include a 2008 all-star baseball signed by Ryan Ludwick, baseballs signed by Stan Musial, Enos Slaughter, Lou Brock, Terry Moore, Al Hrabosky and Jason Isringhaus, and a football signed by Ben Roethlisberger. This auction includes other items such as clocks, quilts, antiques, artwork and much more. The Bazaar starts at 9:00 AM and runs until 2:00 PM, with the early bird option starting at 8:30 AM. NATIONAL ROAD ASSOCIATION RECEIVES FEDERAL GRANT

 

The National Road Association of Illinois has been awarded a $62,000.00 grant through the Federal Highway Administration's National Scenic Byway Program.  Projects funded by the grant include the creation of displays and workshops for local museums and attractions, and the publication of an Illinois National Road guidebook.  NRA-IL executive director John Goldsmith said the guidebook would be the first to cover the entire 164-mile Illinois corridor and will highlight museums, attractions, eateries, and lodging alone the Historic National Road.

HOLIDAY SCHEDULE FOR BOND COUNTY COURTHOUSE

 

The Bond County Courthouse will be closed Thursday and Friday, November 27 and 28th.  The Courthouse will be closed for Christmas December 25th and 26th and will be closed January 1st. 


OBITUARIES

LESTER BUD SCHWEPPE

 

72 year-old Lester "Bud" Schweppe, of Sorento, passed away November 19.  A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 29, from 5:00 - 8:00 PM at the Presbyterian Church in Sorento.
