VANDALIA MAN SENTENCED IN BOND COUNTY COURT

 

Clayton E. Petryshyn, age 29, of Vandalia, entered guilty pleas at the Bond County Courthouse Wednesday morning, to four counts of residential burglary.  Petryshyn was sentenced to 4.5 years in prison for each count, but the sentences will run concurrently.  The burglaries happened on October 18 and 19th, of 2007. 


GREENVILLE COLLEGE TO USE "GC ALERT" SYSTEM

 

Greenville College students, faculty and staff will soon have the chance to register for a new emergency notification system which uses cell phone text messages to alert the campus of any emergency situation.  To participate, college personnel must register their cell phone numbers.  Titled "GC ALERT," this system is another step in the ongoing process of providing the highest level of safety possible.

MULBERRY GROVE VILLAGE BOARD SPECIAL MEETING

 

The Mulberry Grove Village Board held a special meeting Monday, April 21st.  Following a lengthy discussion, the board decided to write a new animal control ordinance.

 

The board also voted to change building inspection codes.  The International Residential Code and the International Property Maintenance Code will be the new guides by which residential and rental properties will be inspected.

 

Adoption of the new animal control and building inspection compliance ordinances is anticipated at the May meeting.


ANOTHER ATV STOLEN IN SORENTO AREA

 

Another ATV has reportedly been stolen in the Sorento area.  Barb Paul reported to the Bond County Sheriff's Department Tuesday evening that her 2000 Blue 425 Polaris ATV was missing from her residence.  The ATV was apparently taken sometime Monday night or early Tuesday morning. This is the second reported theft of an ATV in the Sorento area in the past few days.

The Lady Comets will host Roxana, The Lady Comets lost to Mater Dei 2-0 on Wednesday.

The Comets will travel to Pana today. 


OBITUARIES

ROBERT NEER

 

Robert Neer, age 79, of Greenville, passed away Thursday, April 24th, at Fair Oaks Nursing Home.  Funeral arrangements for 79 year-old Robert Neer are pending at the Young Funeral Home in Greenville.


RICHARD W. BRYANT

 

Reverend Richard W. Bryant age 88 of Stephenville Texas, formerly of Greenville, passed away Saturday at his home.  A celebration of life service will be held in Stephenville at a later date.  Memorials for Reverend Richard W. Bryant may be made to the McKean Rehabilitation Institute, or the worldwide missions program of the Presbyterian Church through the first Presbyterian Church of Greenville.  Richard Bryant is the father of Reverend Ken Bryant of the First Presbyterian Church of Greenville.
