BLOOD DRIVE RESULTS

 

The Parent's Club, of the Greenville Elementary School, hosted an American Red Cross blood drive on Wednesday, April 16th.  The students helped recruit donors.  A total of 44 unites were collected.  Tom Melvin earned a 14-gallon pin and Amanda Holstein was presented a one-gallon pin.


NEW DOCTOR AT HOSPITAL OUTPATIENT SPECIALTY CLINIC

 

Dr. Mary Melanie Waller, MD., a diplomat of the American Board of Urology, is a new addition to the Greenville Regional Hospital Outpatient Specialty Clinic.  Dr. Waller will begin seeing urology patients the first and fourth Thursday of each month and appointments may be scheduled by calling 217-342-9738.  You can get a complete list of doctors and services available at Greenville Regional Hospital by calling 664-1230, Ext. 3006.


KASKASKIA COLLEGE HOSTS PHOTOGRAPHER PRESENTATION

 

Photographer Joel Sartore, best known for his photos of wildlife, is the guest speaker at the next Kaskaskia College Season of Entertainment Guest Artist and Speakers Series presentation, Saturday, April 26th, at 7:30 PM.  Mr. Sartore's presentation is entitled, "Piranhas, Grizzlies, and Flesh-Eating Pigs" - A primer on field survival: How not to get eaten by your subject and other humorous anecdotes. .  There will be a pre-event reception in the Student Center, at 6:00 PM.



NATIONAL SAFE KIDS WEEK APRIL 26 - MAY 4

 

April 26 - May 4 is National Safe Kids Week and Safe Electricity urges you to make sure children know about electrical hazards and how to keep safe when playing outdoors.  Teach your children to follow these rules.

 

Never touch electric appliances while in a pool or hot tub or when wet

 

Keep electrical appliances at least ten feet from pools

 

Never climb trees near power lines

 

Fly kites and airplanes in large open areas away from power lines and never fly a kite on a cloudy day

 

Do not climb utility poles or towers

 

Don't play around pad-mounted electrical equipment

 

And---

Never go into an electrical sub-station for any reason

OBITUARIES

ROBERT NEER

 

Robert Neer, age 79, of Greenville, passed away Thursday, April 24th, at Fair Oaks Nursing Home.  Funeral services for 79 year-old Robert Neer will be Sunday, at 1:00 PM, at the Young Funeral Home in Greenville.  Interment will be in Mt. Auburn Cemetery.  Friends may call Saturday from 4-8 PM at the funeral home.  Memorials are suggested to the Bond County Senior Center.

Our guest this week is Ralph Timmons with the Illinois State Police.  Ralph will talk about seat belt safety, the correct information when it comes to a child's age and the seat belt restraint they should be using and how to properly install child safety seats.
