GREENVILLE HIGH SCHOOL WENT ON LOCKDOWN TUESDAY MORNING

A threatening voicemail message, to a relative of an employee at Bond County Community Unit 2 School district, resulted in the Greenville High School going on lockdown for a short period of time Tuesday morning, according to a statement released from Superintendent of Unit 2 Schools, Melanie Allyn. The lockdown started at approximately 8:44 AM and lasted until 8:52. Officers from the Greenville Police Department responded, along with the resource officer already at the school. No students appear to have been in any danger. It has not yet been confirmed who left the threatening message and to what purpose, but a suspect was taken into custody by the Bond County Sherriff’s department shortly after the school was put on lockdown. It is possible that the Highland Police department could file charges since the message was left at a business within Highland. It is not known exactly what the message said, but it has been referred to as both threatening and violent.
