FRIENDS OF THE NRA DINNER AND AUCTION

 

The Friends of the NRA will have their annual dinner and auction this Saturday, at Mabry's Restaurant in Greenville.  We spoke with Mark Owensby about the event.  Mark said the doors open at 5:30 and dinner starts at 7PM.  There are dozens of items up for auction.  Money raised from the event will go toward safety and eduction programs for children, men, women and families.  You can pre-order tickets and make reservations by calling 669-2747. 

GUILTY PLEA FOR LAPTOP THEFT AT THE BOND COUNTY COURTHOUSE

 

20 year-old Deshad Aikens, of Greenville, plead guilty to theft exceeding $300 dollars, according to papers filed at the Bond County Courthouse.  On march 6th, Aikens stole a laptop from the Bond County Courthouse.  The laptop was recovered, and Aikens was sentenced to 30 months of probation. 

WOMEN'S CLUB MEETING THURSDAY

 

The Greenville Women's Club will meet Thursday, April 10th, at the Bradford Community Building, at 7PM. Members are encouraged to attend.

SHERIFF'S REPORT FOR FEBRUARY

 

Sheriff Jeff Brown has filed his financial report for the month of February.  The report included fees earned and received from the Bond County Transit and miscellaneous sources.  Federal prisoner reimbursement brought in $5,701.51.  A total of $9,202.13 was paid to the Bond County Treasurer for the month of February.

NEWS FROM GREENVILLE POLICE AND BOND COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT

 

Monday morning, Greenville Police received a report of damage at the Kingsbury Park Pool.  The south door was damaged and the window was broken with a chemical holder.  Damage was estimated at $200.00 to repair the door.

 

Kerns Ag in Mulberry Grove reported to the Bond County Sheriff's Department Monday afternoon, that sometime over the weekend, someone had tampered with their anhydrous tanks.

 

The Bond County Sheriff's Department received a report Monday morning of damage to oil well tanks and PVC piping due to someone shooting at the tanks, on Longcreek Road, with a shotgun.  Damage was estimated at over $1000.00.

 

The I-70 Patrol from the Bond County Sheriff's Department issued 11 citations Monday for speeding.

GREENVILLE FLUSHING HYDRANTS

 

The City of Greenville will be flushing hydrants beginning the week of April 14th and continuing for several weeks.  Water will still be safe to drink.

OBITUARIES

THOMAS R. LOGGINS JR.

 

Thomas R Loggins jr. of Greenville, formerly of Smithboro passed away Tuesday at Greenville Regional Hospital.  Funeral services for Thomas R. Loggins Jr. will be held at 2PM on Friday the 11th at the Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville.  Interment will follow in Hazel Dell Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 4-8PM Thursday and Friday until time of service at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. 

SHIRLEY ANN MAYFIELD BIMES

 

Shirley Ann Mayfield Bimes, age 76 of Perryville Missouri, formerly of Greenville, passed away Friday April 4th at St. Francis Hospital in Cape Girardeau Missouri.  Memorial services for 76 Shirley Ann Mayfield Bimes will be Saturday at 11AM at the Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9AM until service time on Saturday.  Internment will be in Mt. Auburn Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the family. 

ALBERT P SEITZ

 

Albert P. Seitz age 81 of Greenville, formerly of Highland, passed away on Tuesday at his home.  Funeral services 81 year-old Albert P. Seitz will be held at 11am Friday the 11th at the Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville.  Entombment will follow in Montrose Abbey.  The Family will receive friends from 4-8PM Thursday and Friday until service time.  Memorials may be made to the Bond County Senior Citizen's Center or Bond County Hospice. 

D. ANNE SEALE

 

D. Anne Seale age 82 of Greenville passed away Monday at her home.  Funeral services will be held at 3PM Saturday the 12th at the Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville.  The Family will receive friends from 1PM until time of service Saturday at the Funeral Home.  In Leu of Flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Bond County Hospice or the optimist club.
