UNIT 2 AMENDS FY08 BUDGET; APPROVED DISTRICT INSURANCE

 

At the most recent Unit 2 Board of Education meeting, board members approved the amended FY08 budget due to some unanticipated grant dollars and revenue expenditures. The new budget will be on display from now until final action, set for June 23rd.  Also okayed was the renewal of district insurance for students and the Mid-State Special Education Joint Agreement.

 

Board members then heard a presentation by three, four-year members of the Key Club.  They discussed their past activities and volunteer efforts including raising over $5,000 in the past four years. The third Monday of the month, for regular board meeting dates, was continued for the upcoming year and the contract with Bushue Human Resources was renewed for another three years.  The next meeting of the Unit 2 Board of Education will be Monday, June 23rd, at 7:30PM.


2 ACCIDENTS OVER THE WEEKEND IN BOND COUNTY

 

A single vehicle accident happened around 3am Saturday morning on West State Street in Burgess township.  The driver, 29 year-old Mandy Hansen of Highland, lost control of her car and traveled 309 feet off of the road way, rolled over and came to rest on the passenger side door.  While Hansen received minor injuries she did not seek treatment.  Hansen was cited for alleged leaving the scene of an accident and no insurance.

 

A two-vehicle accident happened Sunday afternoon at the intersection of Mulberry Grove Road and West Park Street.  No injuries were reported and no citations were issued.

MEMORIAL DAY FISH FRY DINNER GIVEAWAY

 

VFW Post 1377 is hosting a Memorial Day Fish Fry dinner at the post home.  Serving will be from 11am till 3pm and the dinner includes fish with homemade chips, cole slaw, baked beans, dessert, and tea or coffee.  Fish sandwiches will also be available.

THE UPCOMING SECTIONAL BASEBALL GAME

 

It's a busy week for Comets baseball Coach Todd Hutchnison.  The Comets will face Piasa in the first round of the Sectionals this Thursday at 4:30, at Greenville College, and Coach Hutchinson was named the new head Comets football coach Monday night. 

During his years with the Comets football program, coach Hutchison has been assistant coach, head JV coach and defensive coach.  Coach Hutchinson said he plans on remaining as head coach of the Comets baseball team.

ACCIDENT IN BOND COUNTY

 

Bond County Officers responded to an accident Monday night at 10:35 on Rt. 40.  According to the report, Corey Simmons, age 28, of Vandalia, said he lost control of his vehicle in loose gravel and went into the ditch.  The vehicle was not damaged, but Simmons said he hit his head.  Bond County EMS transported Simmons to Greenville Regional Hospital for treatment.


 

THE BOAT DRUNKS TICKET GIVEAWAY

The Mulberry Grove Lady Aces softball team will play in the first round of the sectionals today. The Lady Aces will take on Raymond Lincolnwood today at 4:30 at Raymond.
