MORE DETAILS ON ACCIDENT IN SORENTO
We have a few more details on Wednesday's early morning injury accident in Sorento. Billy G. Stephens, age 49 of Sorento, was arched to Springfield Memorial Hospital after the truck he was driving northbound on Sieman Street in Sorento allegedly traveled through a stop sign at the intersection with Taylor Street, struck a ridding lawn mower, then stuck a large tree. According to the Bond County Sheriff's department report, Stephens was issued multiple citations.
COVERT DETAIL LEADS TO THE ARREST OF TWO CLERKS IN CLINTON COUNTY
Illinois State Police investigators from Zone 6 Collinsville conducted a covert detail to enforce violations of unlawful sale of alcohol to minors. Agents visited 15 convenience stores, gas stations and grocery stores in Carlyle, Breese and St. Rose. Minors worked with police in attempting to purchase alcohol. Clerks at two of the 15 stores made sales to the minors.
31 year-old Molli K. Fauke and 18 year-old Kelsey L. Leitschuh were arrested and charged with alleged Unlawful Sale of Alcohol to a Minor. They were both released with Notices to Appear.
ONE LANE CLOSED ON ROUTE 143 AT BEAVER CREEK FOR BRIDGE WORK
On Tuesday, the Illinois Department of Transportation began work on Route 143 over Beaver Creek, two miles west of Route 127. One lane will be closed, with temporary signals controlling the traffic through the other open lane. The lane reduction is necessary to replace the existing bridge beams. Work on this project is expected to complete by this winter.
