BOND COUNTY BOARD MEETING FOR APRIL

One ongoing issue for the board is the resolution of the Seagraves Cemetery dispute in regards to the pond recently built by Kevin Devore.  The board appointed members Jack Langel and Frank Lucco to meet with Devore and citizens concerned about the cemetery and with the cemetery trustees.  Through the discussions, it’s hoped an acceptable compromise and resolution can be reached.  Two new Seagraves Cemetery Trustees were approved to fill vacancies; they are Bill Duckworth and Deb Marti.

Another issue before the board was the acceptance of ownership of the road in the Deer Creek Subdivision in Central Township.  The road is six years old and has never been formally accepted by the township and is therefore still the property of Wilfred Holzinger, the original owner of the subdivision.  Central Township officials said the condition of the road has deteriorated during that time period, and that fixing and re-crowning the road could cost up to $15,000 in the next few years.  However, the road does meet minimum requirements for acceptance and the board approved the township taking over the road and Holzinger offered $2,000 to help in repairs.

The board also agreed to enter into a grant agreement with the American Farm Heritage Musuem.  In the agreement, the board would receive the possible $20,000 in grant money from the state, then pass the money on to museum officials.
