FINANCING PROPOSAL ACCEPTED BY BOND COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT

 

Plans continue to move forward with the new Bond County Health Department facility to be built on South 4th Street. 

 

Korte Company design engineer’s timetable includes having plans for the building ready for bid by the end of July 2008, with actual ground movement by the end of August or the 1st of September.

 

A ground breaking ceremony is being planned, probably in August, but a date has not yet been determined.

 

To fund the building, the Bond County Health Department plans to borrow $2.2 million.  After reviewing different proposals at their Monday night meeting, the board decided unanimously to accept the proposal from Bradford National Bank.  The interest rate on the loan will be 3.94% for 7 years then would need to be refinanced. There will also be closing costs of approximately $15 thousand dollars.

 

Board President Darryl Bolen said the board needs to come up with a plan for selling the current building and the lot north of the building. This will be a main topic of discussion at the next board meeting scheduled for July 21st.

PRE-TRIAL SCHEDULED FOR JUNE 13TH FOR KPD AND CITY OF GREENVILLE

 

Legal counsels for the Kingsbury Park District and the City of Greenville are scheduled to appear in court once again in Bond County - this time for a Pre-Trial this Friday at 9am.  The original pre-trial was to be in early May, with the bench trial to begin this month.  Due to scheduling conflicts, those dates were pushed back.

 

The dispute over Dewey Street has been ongoing since late 2004. On August 15th, 2007, the City of Greenville withdrew their action against the Kingsbury Park District, after nearly three years of battle in court. Less than a week later, the park district sent out a release saying that they believed that legal action was the only way to resolve the issue.

CELEBRITY PIE AUCTION 2008 IS IN THE BOOKS

A Huge THANK YOU, to all of our pie bakers, helpers and bidders that made the WGEL 2008 Celebrity Pie Auction a Huge success. Over three mornings of auctions the total money raised for the Bond County Relay for Life was $8,735.45. The Relay for Life in Bond County is June 20th at the Bond County Fairgrounds.

KINGSBURY PARK DISTRICT

 

At the most recent Kingsbury Park District board meeting, it was decided to retain the current officers for the coming year. Continuing are: Dave Barbie as president, Matt Willman as Vice President, and Dalene Yates as Treasurer.

 

It was also discussed at great length about what could be done to eliminate the drainage at the back of the ball field on Dewey Street. It was decided it needed further investigation and would be brought up at a future meeting.

 

Saturday's Fishing Derby was a huge success with 77 kids participating. The board then went into executive session to discuss litigation and personnel.

 

After Executive session, they announced a special meeting for 6:00 PM Monday,

June 23rd, at the Bradford Room.

PILOT IDENTIFIED

 

 The Madison County Coroner's office has released the identify of the pilot who was killed when his small plain crashed, near New Douglas, Friday afternoon. Thomas J. O'Grady, age 57, of Anchorage, Alaska, was flying from Alaska to Kentucky, for a class reunion, in a single-engine plane, before the crash that took his life during thunderstorms Friday. The Federal Aviation Administration continues their investigation.
