FARM FAMILIES COST OF LIVING INCREASES
The Cost of Living for Illinois Farm Families in 2007 has increased by nearly $7,000, according to a study by the University of Illinois. This is 9.6% higher than 2006 and 14.3% higher than 2005. This study was based on data from 1,232 farms enrolled in the Illinois Business Farm Management Association.
ILLINOIS ASSISTS IOWA FISHERIES
The Illinois Department of Natural Resources has donated 7,000 seven-inch trout to the Iowa DNR to help Iowa’s fish hatcheries recover from damages caused by the record-setting flooding in June. The donated fish were from the Jake Wolf Memorial Fish Hatchery, the largest of the three fish hatcheries operated by the Illinois DNR. Along with Illinois’ help, Iowa is receiving assistance from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and fisheries in other neighboring states.
ATTEMPTED SUICIDE
The Bond County Sheriff's department reported an attempted suicide. At 9:53 Thursday night the Staunton ambulance took an adult female to Greenville regional suffering from a drug overdose.
