BANK ROBBERY AND HIGH SPEED INTERSTATE CHASE

 

State police in Effingham have released this information about a bank robbery in St. Peter Illinois. At 11:50 am Tuesday the First State Bank of St. Peter was robbed at gunpoint.  An undisclosed amount of cash was taken during that robbery. An off duty St. peter officer begin chasing the robber who fled North to I-70 where he surrendered to  Illinois State police, St. Peter police and Officers from the Fayette County Sheriff's department. The investigation is continuing and further information will be released following the filing of formal charges.


TRIBUTE FOR DAVE WALKER

 

Greenville firefighters gathered at the firehouse Monday night to honor one of their former board members. A plaque was mounted to the side of their new fire truck in honor of Dave Walker who recently passed away after a long battle with Cancer. Dave's wife and children were on hand to unveil the plaque.

MULBERRY GROVE VILLAGE BOARD SPECIAL MEETING

 

At a special meeting Monday night, the Mulberry Grove Village Board adopted the revised Animal Control Ordinance.  Following signing of the ordinance, residents will have 60 days to comply with its specifications.

 

A Freedom of Information Ordinance was also accepted, identifying materials available to residents and setting the time frame in which requested documents might be obtained.

 

The Board discussed specifications for a Rental Property Inspection Ordinance.  Action on a final version, including fees and fines, will be taken at a later meeting.

 

The Board reviewed bids to trim around stones in the Mulberry Grove Cemetery.  Action was taken to accept Jason Bone's bid, contingent upon proof of insurance.

 

Bids will be accepted for hay mowing of the property around the cell phone tower, south of town.  Bids must be received by August 6th.

 

Due to activities at the Bond County Fair, the August 4th meeting is tentatively set for August 6th.

FLOOD RISK INFORMATION OPEN HOUSES IN MADISON, MONROE AND ST. CLAIR COUNTIES

 

Flood risk information open houses are scheduled for Madison, Monroe, and St. Clair Counties, July 29-31.  Property owners, realtors, lenders, and insurance agents are urged to attend to learn more about flood risk and hazard mitigation within their communities.  The open house in Monroe County will be Tuesday, July 29th, from 5:00 - 8:30 PM at the Monroe County Annex, at 901 Illinois Avenue, in Waterloo.  For Madison County, the open house is Wednesday, July 30th, from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at the Gateway Convention Center, Center Hall B, 1 Gateway Drive, in Collinsville.  For St. Clair County, the open house will be Thursday July 31st, from 4:00 - 8:00 PM, at the Southwest Illinois College Varsity Gym (Building MC 1500, Entrance H), 2500 Carlyle Avenue, Belleville.  Use parking lots M4 and M5.  For more information, call 312-408-5518.

OBITUARIES

Earl Crump Jr.

 

Earl Crump Jr., age 81 of Greenville, passed away Monday at Greenville Regional Hospital.  Funeral services for 81 year old Earl Crump Jr. will be held at 11am on Thursday at the Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville.  Interment will follow in McKendree Chapel Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4-8 on Wednesday.  Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of the Bond County Humane Society.
