FARMLAND VALUE INCREASE

Prices being paid for Illinois farmland continue an upward spiral as fewer farms are available and neighboring farmers are the buyers.  This is according to a survey among members of the Illinois Society of Professional Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers. Survey respondents indicated that farmland values increased by an average of 9 percent during the first half of the year and are expected to increase to 10 percent or more. The University of Illinois conducted the survey and the results were released at the Farm Progress Show.
