GREENVILLE CITY MANAGER RECAPS 2008

 

We recently had the chance to talk with City Manager Dave Willey for a recap on the successes in Greenville through the past year.  Willey is proud of all the economic development activity. Greenville has a revolving loan fund and that fund loaned money to the Bakery Nook and Wayne’s Meat Market throughout the year.  2008 brought the start of construction for Molinero, an industrial client in the industrial park. The factory produces masa flour, used for tortilla chips and tortillas. The year was really productive and Willey says he’s looking forward to even more in 2009.

WOMAN LOSES LIFE IN MASCOUTAH HOUSE FIRE

 

Authorities have identified the victim of a Mascoutah house fire as Beautyna Schifferdecker.  She was discovered in a rear bathroom, where she tried to climb out of a small window.  Neighbors tried to help her, but couldn't.  Investigators are still searching for the cause of the deadly fire.

MAN RUNS INTO HOME WITH CAR

 

A South Roxana man is in police custody after ramming his car into his estranged wife's car.  Authorities say after the man hit his wife's car, he then drove to his home, crashed into the front door and went inside.  The unidentified man threatened to shoot any officer who tried to come in, then kill himself.  The man held police at bay for about half an hour before walking outside.  He was taken into custody after a brief struggle.
