FEDERAL PRISONER'S GENERATE MONEY FOR COUNTY

 

The fiscal year ended for the Bond County Sheriff’s department on November 30, 2008.  The year end report was reviewed and approved at the latest Bond County Board meeting.  According to the Sheriff’s Department, just over $109,000 was paid to the county treasurer’s office during the fiscal year.  Almost half of that money, $52,509, was generated by fFederal prisoner reimbursement.  Fees paid to the Sheriff’s Department, amounted to over $27,000 during the last fiscal year. 


THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS WORTH OF TOOLS STOLEN

 

Joiner Construction reported to the Bond County Sheriff's Department that someone broke into an enclosed construction trailer sometime between January 6 and January 9.  Several thousand dollars worth of tools were stolen. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Bond County Sheriff's Department.

Mid-1800's dance tunes for the occasion using authentic instruments from the Civil War era.  Dance mistress Deborah Hyland, of St. Louis, will teach the dance steps to those unfamiliar with the waltzes and minuets. Lincoln's Birthday 1860's Period Ball will be Thursday, February 12, starting at 6:00 PM, in the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum in Springfield. The event is free and open to the public. 31 REGISTER FOR RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE IN MULBERRY GROVE

 

The Mulberry Grove American Legion Post 1180 and the Mulberry Grove Firemen's Association co-sponsored an American Red Cross Blood Drive recently.  31 persons registered with 28 units collected.  Jerry McFarland was awarded a 19 gallon pin, Carole Roach and Dwight Volkmar 8 gallon pins, James Vandervort a 5 gallon pin and Parish Klawitter and Bill Niepert 2 gallon pins.

LEON L. HATFILL, JR.

 

Leon L. Hatfill, Jr., age 66, of Mulberry Grove, passed away Sunday, January 11.

Funeral services for Leon Hatfill, Jr. will be Wednesday at 11:00 AM, at Hohlt and File Funeral Home in Vandalia.  Visitation will be today from 5:00 -8:00 PM at the funeral home.  Interment will be in McInturff Cemetery in rural Vandalia.  Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Lung Association.


PRISCILLA J. MARTI

 

Priscilla J. Marti, age 87, of Greenville, passed away Saturday, January 10, at Greenville Regional Hospital.  Funeral services for 87 year-old Priscilla J. Marti will be Thursday at 10:00 AM, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church.  Burial will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Wednesday after 5:00 PM at Young Funeral Home in Greenville.  There will be a rosary service at 7:30 PM.  Memorials are suggested to St. Lawrence Cemetery or to masses.


WES A. GASSER

 

Wes A. Gasser, age 75, of Greenville, passed away Saturday, January 10.  Funeral services for Wes A. Gasser will be Thursday at 11:00 AM, at the Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville.  Burial will be in Mt. Auburn Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to the Bond County Hospice.


JERRY A. ENNEN

 

Jerry A. Ennen, age 52, of Keyesport, passed away Friday, January 9, in Huntsville, Alabama.  Funeral services for 52 year-old Jerry Ennen will be Wednesday, at 2:00 PM, at the Young Funeral Home in Greenville.  Interment will be in German Cemetery in Hookdale.  The family will receive friends Tuesday from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions are suggested to German Cemetery, the American Heart Association, or the Carlyle VFW.


KATHLEEN WRIGHT

 

91 year-old  Kathleen Wright of Coffeen, formerly of Pinckneyville, passed away

Saturday, January 10 at Montgomery Nursing and Rehab. Funeral services for

Kathleen Wright will be 1:00 PM today at Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home in Pinkneyville. Internment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 6:00 - 8:00 PM and today nb from noon - 1:00 PM at Toberman-Dean Funeral Home in Coffeen.
