SPECIAL KPD MEETING FOR SKATEBOARD PARK

The Kingsbury Park District Board held a special meeting Monday to discuss the skateboard park and to choose a contractor and construction company for the project.  The board voted unanimously to use Who Skates to pour concrete for the skateboard park. Director Sauerwein stated that Who Skates’ bid was less expensive and more flexible than the other bidders. Sauerwein also said that past cities that have contracted with Who Skates have been happy with the company’s work.  The motion passed by the board did not set the final design for the project, but it did pick the company, a tentative design, and set a starting price of $79,500.  With a custom park, the board will continue to make changes to the design which will, more than likely, add to the final cost.  With a state grant and local fundraising, the KPD has over $110,000 available which will allow some additions or changes to the final design.  The board expressed the desire to build the best park possible for the community.  The final design may be presented at a meeting in May.
