ST. JOSEPHS HOSPITAL HIGHLAND EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR
During National Hospital Week, earlier this month, St. Joseph's Hospital named its employee of the year. During the employee banquet at the Knights of Columbus Hall May 14, Carolyn Enboden was named the Hospital's "Employee of the Year." Enboden has been employed at the hospital for four years as a physical therapy assistant in the Rehabilitation Department. Also 25 employees received service awards and seven recent retirees were recognized.
GREENVILLE TRACK SENIOR STATE CHAMP
Greenville Senior Lindsey Holden became an Illinois State Track Champion Saturday. Lindsey won the IHSA girls class 1A 100 meter dash and the 400 meter dash. She was greeted with a firetruck parade when she returned to Greenville. Kylee Kidd won the 7th grade girls state title in the discus and Cameron Walter won the 8th grade boys 100 meter dash state title.
COMETS WIN REGIONALS IN BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL
The Greenville Comets Baseball team beat Carlyle 2-1 in 13 innings at the Carlyle Regional Saturday to win the championship. The Comets loaded the bases with two out and Todd Eaton was hit by a pitch to force in the winning run. They next play this Wednesday at the Greenville Sectional. Game time is 4:30 PM and will be broadcast on WGEL.
The Lady Comets softball team defeated Wesclin 2-0 to win the Greenville Regional Championship. They next play Thursday at the Newton Sectional.
The Mulberry Grove Lady Aces softball team lost 7-2 to Raymond in the Raymond Regional Championship game.

Justin R. Haar, age 21, of Beckemeyer passed away Sunday, May 24, in Bond County. Funeral services for Justin R. Victor George Neal, age 82, formerly of the Sorento and Greenville areas, passed away May 21st in Wichita Falls. Funeral services for Victor George Neal were held Sunday, May 24th at the First United Methodist Church in Burkburnett. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Scottish Rite Children's Hospital in Dallas, Texas. The Ownes and Brumley Funeral Home of Burkburnett is in charge of arrangements.
