MULBERRY GROVE BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETS
The Mulberry Grove Unit 1 Board of Education met recently. This was the final meeting for Superintendent Greg Irwin who will be assuming the role of Superintendent in the Georgetown Ridge Farm District in Georgetown, Illinois. Michael Gauch assumes duties of Superintendent of the Mulberry Grove District on July 1.
A request was received from a guest concerning the starting of a cross-country running program at Mulberry Grove. Representatives of Johnson Controls, Inc., of Springfield, Illinois, spoke to the board about a proposed performance contract opportunity.
Principals Bauer and Hartlieb reported activities in their respective buildings including highlights of teachers' inservice activities and student events for May.
Following a closed session, the board approved student handbook changes, the renewal of services with the SchoolReach and Go Solutions Programs, the Mid State Bond/Fayette Region Joint Agreement, and the board meeting calendar, all for school year 2009-2010.
The next meeting will be Monday, July 20, at 7:00 PM in the District Media Center.

BOND COUNTY BOARD TO MEET TUESDAY NIGHT
The Bond County Board will meet Tuesday night at the courthouse at 7:30 PM. The board will consider approving a liquor liscense for the Lake Stop, and receive the sheriff’s semi-annual report coving the last month of 2008 and the first five months of 2009, along with the Circuit Clerk’s semi-annual report for the same time frame. MOBILE HOME FIRE IN PIERRON
The Highland-Pierron Fire Department was called early Saturday morning to a kitchen fire in a mobile home at 73 Country Lane West. According to fire chief Steve Plocher, the fire was quickly put out, but there are thousands of dollars of fire, smoke and water damage. At this time, it is determined that an unattended pot on the stove started the fire. Firemen were on the scene for approximately one hour.
