BIG DAY PLANNED FOR GREENVILLE TODAY

A grand opening and a groundbreaking ceremony is planned for today.  Assistant City Manager Lisa Stephens excitedly highlighted the events. 9:00 AM this morning, is the time set for the grand opening of the new Buchheit "Country Superstore."   Instead of the usual ribbon cutting, Lisa said store officials will use a gold colored chainsaw to cut a large timber with the Buchheit name burned into it, to officially open the store.  Everyone is invited to attend the "timber cutting" and then tour the store.

Lisa said that today is also the day for the official ground breaking ceremony at the Love's Travel Center site, south of Greenville.  Representatives from the Love's Corporate Office will be present at 11:45 AM for the ceremony.  You are invited to attend both of these events to help celebrate continued growth of business and industry in Greenville.

BOND COUNTY HEALTH BOARD MEETING JUNE 15

The Bond County Health Board met Monday night at the Bond County Health Department building. The first item discussed was the progress of the new Bond County Health Department building. John Carpenter, from Korte Design, reported that while a lot of minor projects need to be completed, they are still on track. One item that seems to be causing concern with the board is the furniture contract to Russell, a furniture company from Georgia, for almost $47,500. The company has not yet provided references or a local inspection of their product. The board decided to have a special Building and Grounds meeting Tuesday at 8:00 PM to determine if they need to accept a different bid. The board did approve $6,300 for a security camera system. Following a closed session, there was a consensus to put the old health department building and land up for sale. At this time, the estimated value is $485,000.
