GREENVILLE RAIN TOTALS FOR JUNE

 

Greenville received a fair amount of rain in June but less than the previous two months.  4.42 inches of rain fell at the Sewer Plant, the station on Sixth Street measured 4.6 inches and at Idler Lane and Rt. 140, 4.58 inches were recorded.  Rain totals for June 2009 are just slightly higher than the average rainfall for the month which is 4.308 inches, as recorded over the past 10 years.

SHIMKUS ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR MILITARY ACADEMIES

 

Congressman John Shimkus is accepting applications from young men and women interested in attending one of the United States military academies.  To be eligible, you must be a United States citizen, at least 17 and not more than 23 years old, unmarried, not pregnant, have no dependents, and a legal resident of the 19^th Congressional District of Illinois.  Completed applications must be received by November 1, 2009.  For information, call Dora at 618-344-3065.

FIRE ALARM

 

Greenville Firemen responded to a fire alarm sounding at 740 North Elm at 5:08 Tuesday night. After arriving firemen talked to the owner, who said that steam from a dryer tripped the alarm. After a brief investigation, no fire was found. They were on the scene for 25 minutes.
