BOND COUNTY BOARD MEETING
The Bond County Board held their evening July meeting Tuesday night. Pending state approval, Bond County Highway Engineer Mike McCormick will begin his second 6-year contract in September. The board voted to approve McCormick's contract. The board also voted to change eight acres, on Governor Bond Lake in Mulberry Grove Township, from agricultural zoning to residential, as Griffith Development Corporation is seeking to put a subdivision on that site. The board heard from their auditor who gave the books a clean report with a suggestion the board work on developing proceedures to avoid any fraud. According to the auditor, the county collected 99.46 percent of taxes owed. Board members will be looking at department budget numbers over the next two weeks and will meet a half hour prior to their August 4 meeting to go over next years budgets. And they entered into an inter-governmental agreement with the Illinois Department of Transportation to put 215 thousand dollars in federal stimulus money to work on Sorento Road.
