3 CAR ACCIDENT IN HIGHLAND SENDS THREE TO THE HOSPITAL

 

It was a chain reaction 3 car accident that sent three Highland residents to the hospital on Monday.  According to the Highland Police Department's accident report Jonathan Koen age 21 of Highland was stopped at the intersection of Broadway and Olive, in Highland, to allow for pedestrians to cross the road. Debora Seefeldt, age 49 of Highland, was stopped in her vehicle behind Koen; when Gabriel Zuccarelli age 17 also of Highland allegedly failed to stop in time and struck the rear of Seefeldt's vehicle which then struck the rear of Koen's vehicle.  All three were transported to St. Joseph's Hospital in Highland by Highland EMS. Zuccarelli was cited for alleged failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.  All three individuals were treated and released from St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland.

MAN SENTENCED FOR FIREARMS OFFENSE THAT INJURED CHILD

 

A news release from the United States Attorney for the Southern District states that Quanotho Kyles, age 35, of Florida pled guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm on March 30th of this year. According to the release, Kyles, who had previously been convicted of a felony, purchased a rifle and stored it in a residence where he was living in Alton. In June 2008, Kyle's four year-old son located the rifle and accidentally shot his two year-old brother. Kyles was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment, 5 years probation and ordered to pay a fine of $750.

FALL REGISTRATION AT KASKASKIA COLLEGE

 

Kaskaskia College will host a, special fall 2009 registration day, at the main campus in Centralia on Saturday, August 8th from 9am to 2PM. New students are encouraged to bring their high school transcripts, college transcripts and ACT scores. Students need to be aware that payment of 25% of their fall tuition is required to register for the classes. Kaskaskia's Children's Learning Center staff will also be available for families to register their children for childcare. BARBARA GAFFNER

 

Barbara A. Gaffner age 71 of Greenville passed away on Saturday, July 25th at Fair Oaks. In keeping with Barbara Gaffner's wishes, there will be cremation with no memorial service. For those who desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Bond County Hospice or the Activity Department at Fair Oaks at the Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home.
