ACCIDENT CLAIMS THE LIFE OF A BREESE MAN
An accident involving two vehicles early Friday morning, August 7, claimed the life of a Breese man. According to the Illinois State Police, Tyler Trokey, age 22, of Breese, driving a 2006 Ford Ranger, was traveling south on Rt. 4 approaching Mud Creek Road. A vehicle was stopped on Rt. 4, in the southbound lane, waiting to turn onto Mud Creek Road. Trokey attempted to pass the stopped vehicle and collided head on with a 2005 Chevy 3500 driven by 49 year-old Wesley Shuemaker, of DuQuoin. Trokey was pronounced dead at the scene while Shuemaker and two passengers were taken to Sparta Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
PRIMARY ELECTION PETITIONS NOW AVLIABLE
Next years primary election is February 2, and petitions for candidates are now available at the Bond County Clerk's Office. WGEL spoke with Bond County Clerk Randy Reitz about the election and how to get a packet. According to Randy, political parties are now finding candidates to run in the primary for local and state offices. Packets are now available and must be turned in the last week in October to November 2. To get a packet, go to the Bond County Clerk's Office at 203 West College Ave., from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. They are also open during lunch hour. Randy added that if you have any questions about the packet or signatures needed, his office would be very happy to explain what you need to do.
