ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH SAYS WATCH FOR H1N1 OUTBREAK THIS FALL

The Illinois Department of Public Health says it is keeping an eye on a possible resurgence of the H1N1 flu this fall.  Melaney Arnold of the Illinois Department of Public Health says people are still coming down with the H1N1 flu, but cases are down drastically from the height of the pandemic in the United States earlier this year.  She says the department is encouraging teachers and staff to watch out for symptoms in children when school starts.  Kids may also be getting a refresher course in the the three C's: clean, cover and contain.  Kids are encouraged to wash their hands, cover their cough in their sleeve instead of in their hands and stay home if feeling sick.  Arnold also says this year the department will push hard for everyone to get both the seasonal flu and the H1N1 vaccine.  The seasonal flu shot comes out in early September.  The H1N1 is expected to be available in October, but it will come in two doses.  This means people will be getting three flu shots this year.
