PAWS IN THE PARK

 

Saturday afternoon a big crowd of people and their dogs attended the annual Bond County Humane Society's Paws in the Park at Greenville's Patriot's Park. The crowd enjoyed many demonstrations including a crew from the St. Louis Police Department showing off their police dogs. Check out pictures of this event.

NEW PRESIDENT OF ST. JOSEPHS HOSPITAL IN HIGHLAND

Hospital Sisters Health System has announced a new president and CEO of St. Joseph's Hospital in Highland. Peggy Sebastian, a nurse with more than 29 years experience in health care administration, will succeed Dennis Hutchison assuming her duties on October 5. Hutchison has served as interim administrator since December 2008. Ms. Sebastian joins St. Joseph's after leading her own health care consulting firm. Before that she was Chief Patient Care Officer for a patient care provider in Wisconsin. Ms. Sebastian is a native of Spring Valley, Illinois and will be relocating to the Highland area.


TRAFFIC ROUTED AROUND BRIDGE TO BE REPAIRED

 

Traffic on Illinois Rt. 4/15 near Fayetteville, Illinois will be diverted around a bridge to be replaced over the Kaskaskia River Overflow.  According to the Illinois Department of Transportation, this runaround will be available for use beginning Tuesday, September 15, until the completion of the new bridge, estimated to be in mid-summer 2010.

The Lady Comets lost their match with Alton-Marquette on Monday. 

 

HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER

 

The Comets soccer team beat Staunton 4-0 on Monday.  Michael Schlemper scored three goals and Trevor Suess scored one. 

 

HIGH SCHOOL GOLF

 

The Lady Comets lost to Hillsboro in Greenville on Monday.  The Lady Comets shot a combined 243 and Jessica Grigg was the low scorer with a 53.
