SHIMKUS VOTES TO EXTEND UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS
United States Representative John Shimkus was one of many Congressmen who voted to extend unemployment benefits for states with unemployment rates above 8.5%, which includes Illinois. The bill adds another 13 weeks of federal unemployment benefits and some people might get as much as 92 total weeks of unemployment benefits. The bill passed the House Tuesday and now goes to the Senate for action.

CLARA M. BARNES
Clara M. Barnes, age 98, of Highland, passed away Monday, September 21, at Fair Oaks Nursing Home in Greenville. A memorial Mass for 98 year-old Clara Barnes will be Monday, September 28, at 11:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Pierron. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call Monday, from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Memorials are suggested to Missionaries of Charity Soup Kitchen. The Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland is in charge of arrangements.
DOROTHY BLISS
Dorothy O. Bliss, age 100 of Hillsboro passed away Friday, September 18th at St. John's Hospital in Springfield. Funeral services for 100 year-old Dorothy Bliss will be Saturday, September 26th at 1PM at First Presbyterian Church in Hillsboro. Burial will be in Oak Grove cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5PM to 7PM at First Presbyterian Church in Hillsboro.
