OPEN HOUSE AT NEW HEALTH DEPARTMENT BUILDING
The Bond County Health Department held an open house for their new building Wednesday afternoon. The ribbon cutting was at 2:00 p.m. with a speech by Dr. Boyd McCracken Sr. Dr. McCracken spoke about the history of the health department and tours of the new building were conducted. Bond County Health Department Director Maxine Barth thanked everyone who had a part in making the new building possible.



LOTS TO DO THIS WEEKEND IN BOND COUNTY
There is lots to see and do this weekend throughout Bond County. The 18th annual Apple Day will be on the Greenville square this Saturday. The event is put on by the GBPA and is very family friendly with pony rides, petting zoo, crafts booths and lots more. Big Jeff's Blues will play from noon to 3:00 p.m. and the whole days starts with a farmer's market that opens at 7:00 a.m. There will also be an apple desert contest at 10:00 a.m., and all the Apple Day fun is right on the square.
The Greenville Airport will also hold their open house this Saturday from 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. The event is presented by the Greenville Pilots Association and will feature gliders, a parachute jump around noon, helicopters at 2:00 p.m. and remote controlled planes at 10:00 a.m. There will also be a fly in/drive in breakfast from 7:00 - 11:00 a.m. for $6.00.
Sunday is the annual Ripson Bridge festival. The 22nd annual Ripson Bridge festival starts at 11:00 a.m. and goes untill 5:00 p.m. There will be country music throughout the day along with craft stands, games and food.
Come to Apple Day and the Greenville Airport open house Saturday and the Ripson Bridge festival Sunday. There are plenty of activities so get out and have fun this weekend right here in Bond County.

SIUE MANUFACTURING CENTER TO RECEIVE FEDERAL FUNDS
The Southwest Illinois Advanced Manufacturing Center at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville is receiving more than $158,000 in federal funding to help local communities' economic development. The manufacturing center performs applied and basic research and workforce development activities, for both established and start-up enterprises, assisting with prototype design and fabrication, product development, process organization, and new technology development. SIUE President Glenn Poshard thanked Congressman John Shimkus for his help in securing the grant.
