ONE-VEHICLE ACCIDENT SUNDAY
Bond County Sheriff's Officers responded to a one-vehicle accident Sunday morning. According to the accident report, a 21 year-old female driver, was driving a 2005 Chevy Cavalier westbound on Airport Ave., approaching Raven road, when a deer ran in front of her, causing her to lose control of her car. She hit the ditch and then struck a utility pole. No injuries were reported but extensive damage was done to her vehicle.
BOND COUNTY BOARD TO MEET THIS MORNING
The Bond County Board will meet this morning at the courthouse at 10:00 a.m. Items on the agenda include monies from the anti-crime fund for the simple room, a resolution of support for the senior center to receive a state grant for community development assistance and the sheriff's report. PUMPKIN CARVING CONTEST FOR NATION'S NUMBER ONE STATE
Pumpkin production in Illinois is big business. Illinois now harvests 13,679 acres of pumpkins each year on 502 farms. An Illinois Department of Agriculture initiative to promote this specialty crop is the Illinois Products Farmers Market in the Commodities Pavilion on the Illinois State Fair Grounds. The market is open Thursday evenings between May and October, from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. On October 22, you are invited to compete in a pumpkin carving competition. Gary L. Varner, age 62, of Sorento, passed away Friday, October 2 at his home. Funeral services for 62 year-old Gary Varner will be Wednesday, at 11:00 a.m. at the Perfetti Funeral Home in Sorento. Cletis L. Eggimann, age 43, of Marine, passed away Monday, October 5 at his mother's home. Funeral services for 43 year-old Cletis Eggimann will be Wednesday, at 10:00 a.m. at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Marine. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson, MO. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday, from 8:00 a.m. bnuntil service time at the funeral home.
