BOND COUNTY BOARD TO USE ANIT-CRIME FUNDS TO HELP PROGRAM AT SIMPLE ROOM GET STARTED

At the recent Bond County Board meeting, the board approved withdrawing $8,200 from the anti-crime fund to be used to fund a pilot program at the Simple Room in Greenville.  State's Attorney Chris Bauer made the request and said the program will combine physical excerise and one-on-one mentoring of young at-risk men.  The desired result is to keep these young men away from crime and drug use.  The program is a new idea to the Simple Room, and would be able to track not only physical goals from the workouts, but also school grades and any discipline programs.  That information will be made avaliable peroidically from the program.  The $8,200 would cover gym memberships and rewards for the participants who meet their goals.  The anti-crime fund recieves it's money from seized assests and money from criminals, especially drug related crimes, and is meant to be used to help combat crime and drug use.
