GREENVILLE MAN DIES FROM GUNSHOT WOUND

 

A Greenville man, who was accidentally shot, has died from his wounds. According to Greenville Police, 50 year-old Greg Boudouris accidentally shot himself with a handgun Friday night around 11:00 p.m., at 1505 Route 127. Boudoris was taken to Greenville Regional Hospital and later airlifted to a St. Louis hospital. Boudoris died Saturday from the gunshot wound. 18 YEAR-OLD POCAHONTAS WOMAN DIES AT ST. JOSEPH'S HOSPITAL IN HIGHLAND

 

Only a few details have become available on the 18 year-old Pocahontas woman who died Thursday night at St. Joseph's hospital in Highland.  According to the Madison County Corner's Office, 18 year-old Brooke Williams passed away at 9:28 p.m. at St. Joseph's hospital in Highland.  An investigation is ongoing by the corner's office as to a cause of death. Foul play is not suspected.  Results of the autopsy could take up to three months to return. 


H1N1 FLU VACCINE CLINIC AT BOND COUNTY HEALHT DEPARTMENT

 

The Bond County Health Department will hold H1N1 flu vaccine clinics Tuesday and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. at the Bond County Health Department building.  The target population for these vaccines is, according to CDC guidelines, anyone from 3-24 years old and anyone 25-64 years old with certain medical conditions such as cancer, blood disorders, chronic lung disease, diabetes, heart disease, kidney disorders and neurological disorders.  If you have questions about certain diseases and if they are included, call the health department.  The press release from the health department said that as more vaccine becomes available, healthy people age 25-64 and those 65 and older may also be vaccinated.  sdc'

 

FORMER GREENVILLE FCI WORKER SENTENCED

 

A former correctional officer at the FCI in Greenville was sentenced for making a false statement to a federal officer.  Kenneth White, age 45, of Centralia, was sentenced to six months in prison, two years probation and a $150 fine.  According to the U.S. attorney press release, White lied about illegally distributing tabbaco to two inmates at the Greenville FCI Prison and taking a payment of approximately $35,000.  Tabbaco is a contraband substance at the prison.

BOND COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT MEETING

 

The Bond County Health Department Board will meet Monday night at 6:30.  Items on the agenda include a flu and West Nile update, employee health insurance and the 2010 budget.  Tune to WGEL Radio for full post-meeting coverage.


THREE BOND COUNTY UNIT 2 MEETINGS MONDAY

 

Three Bond County Unit 2 meetings are scheduled for Monday, November 9.  The Finance Committee will meet at 5:00 p.m. followed by a special Board of Education meeting to consider a student discipline matter at 6:00, and the Building, Grounds, and Transportation Committee will meet following the special board meeting at about 7:00.  All meetings will be in the central office conference room.


MARION MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO BANK ROBBERY

 

Frederick G. Goosby, age 36, of Marion, Illinois, pled guilty recently to a one-count indictment, charging him with bank robbery.  The violation occurred August 3, 2009 in Murphysboro, Illinois.  The offense carries a penalty of up to 20 years imprisonment, a fine of up to $250,000 and a term of three years supervised release.

COMETS MOVE ON TO THIRD ROUND

 

The Greenville Comets football team won a nail-biter Saturday afternoon, beating Fairfield 29-21 at Fairfield. The Comets were behind at halftime 15-7 but scored three touchdowns in the third quarter to take a 29-15 lead. Then the Comets defense once again held an opponent to one score in the second half to win 29-21. The Comets will now host the Pana Panthers in the third round of the playoffs. Pana defeated Anna Jonesboro 36-29 at Pana Saturday. The Comets vs Pana game is Saturday at 2PM and you can hear the game live on WGEL Radio.

Gregory "Greg" Boudouris, age 50, of Greenville, passed away Saturday, November 7 at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis. Funeral services for 50 year-old Greg Boudouris will be Thursday, at 10:00 a.m. at Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will be in Mt. Auburn Cemetery. Michele A. Pish, age 32, of Carlyle, formally of Highland, passed away Thursday, November 5 in Mt. Vernon. Funeral services for 32 year-old Michele Pish will be Wednesday, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Shiloh. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday, from 8:00 - 9:30 a.m. at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland. Memorials may be made to N.A.O.M.I.

William D.
