IT WAS A WARM NOVEMBER

If you thought the weather in November was mild, the National Weather Service agrees and says that November was one of the mildest on record. Much of central Illinois ran five to seven degrees above average.

According to information from the Greenville Water Treatment Plant, Greenville received much less rain in November than in October.  The average rainfall for November was 3.05 inches compared to the 13.76 inches in October.  When comparing this year with records dating back to 1968, more rain was received in 1983 with 8.8 inches, 1992 - 8.3 inches, and 1993 - 6.28 inches. So far this winter season, Greenville has only seen some snow in the air Wednesday evening. Many years, there have been ground covering snowfalls by Thanksgiving, such as the 10.2 inches in 1980.
