PIZZA DELIVERY MAN ROBBED AT KNIFE POINT IN HIGHLAND

 

A pizza delivery turned into an armed robbery Sunday night in Highland.  According to Highland Police Chief Terry Bell, a person delivering pizza to a customer on Suppiger Lane in Highland was approached by a suspect wearing a ski mask and allegedly armed with a knife, just after 10:00 p.m.  Chief Bell said the suspect made off with a small amount of money and no one was hurt.  The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call the Highland Police Department.

STOLEN CAR RECOVERED ON I-55

 

A car was reported stolen Friday night from the rear lot of Greenville Lumber and Landscape.  According to Greenville Police Chief Lou Lorton, the car was recovered around 1:00 a.m. Monday by the Illinois State Police.  The car was located on I-55 at milepost four.  The investigation into the auto theft continues. 

 

I-70 LANE CLOSED MONDAY

 

According to information from a spokesperson from the Illinois State Police, westbound lanes of Interstate 70 east of Greenville were closed due to an accident earlier Monday. Traffic was diverted onto Route 40 in Greenville and Mulberry Grove. The lanes were re-opened around 5:30 p.m.

CARLYLE LAKE TREE RECYCLING

 

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will be collecting used Christmas trees for the annual Christmas tree recycling project. They partner with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources to use the trees as fish habitats at Carlyle Lake. Volunteers from various organizations help submerge the trees in the lake. Christmas trees may be donated from December 26 through January 10 at Plant Land, Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Saturday, from 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. You may also bring used trees to the Little Prairie Nature Trail parking lot at Carlyle Lake.
