ABANDONED CAR LEADS TO THREE HOUR SERACH FOR MISSING PERSON

An abandoned car, found at the KPD Nature Preserve, led Bond County Deputies, Greenville Firemen and KPD staff on a three-hour missing person search Monday night.  According to Bond County Sherriff Jeff Brown, the vehicle was found around 8:15 p.m.  Inside the vehicle, deputies found a couple of notes Brown said were of a “concerning nature.”  A canine search of the grounds and a search by 23 Greenville Firemen, Deputies and staff from the KPD went on untill after midnight at the nature preserve.  The unidentified 23 year-old female was found at a friend’s home around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday.  A deputy transported her to Greenville Regional Hospital for a medical evaluation.

MAN ARRESTED FOR HIGHLAND PIZZA DELIVERYMAN ARMED ROBBERY

Back in December, a pizza deliveryman was robbed at knifepoint in Highland.  Michael Thedford, age 24, of Licking, Missouri was arrested in relation to that robbery.  Highland Police Chief Terry Bell told WGEL that Thedford had allegedly made the phone call that brought out the pizza deliveryman, with the intention of robbing him.  Bell said that Thedford even told the deliveryman that he had a large bill to pay in cash for the pizza hoping this would make the pizza deliveryman have extra cash on his person.  While this tactic isn't new in Illinois or across the country, pizza delivery people only carry a small amount of money regardless of what a customer might say.  Thedford is currently being held in a Missouri jail on a violation of probation charge for a previous burglary conviction.

JANUARY BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING

The Bond County Board of Health met Monday evening at the Bond County Health Department building on south Fourth Street. The status of the old Health Department building was on the agenda. So far no sale is forthcoming. The board extended their contract with a local real estate agent to six more months to sell, lease or rent the building. The Health Department will hold an H1N1 clinic this Thursday, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. So far over 4,000 doses of the vaccine have been administered. They recommend that if you have not gotten your immunization shot, stop by and get it. Positive reports were given from the agency's Home Health and Hospice programs with patient surveys overwhelmingly positive. On a monetary issue, the department is still owed around $350,000 from the state and there is some concern if they will receive these monies. Director Maxine Barth was commended for her excellent performance for the past year including being instrumental in adding the dental clinic. The next Board of Health meeting will be Monday, February 8.
