CITY OF GREENVILLE LEAF BURNING SURVEY

 

The City of Greenville is currently conducting a leaf burning survey. This survey will provide an opportunity for citizens to voice their opinion regarding leaf burning. Residents may access the on-line survey by clicking the Leaf Burning Survey link on the city website, www.greenvilleillinois.com. For those who do not have access to the internet, a copy of the survey will be included with the monthly utility bill which may be completed and returned to the Municipal Building.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE AND LOCAL THEFTS

 

The Bond County Sheriff's Department is investigating a report of criminal damage to property at a residence on Lake Branch Road north of Mulberry Grove. The Sheriff's Department is also investigating a reported theft of items, valued at more than $300.00, from a residence on Sale Barn Avenue. Greenville Police are investigating a reported theft of items, valued at more than $500.00, from a motor vehicle at a residence on Cedar Street.

MIDWIFE WELCOMED

 

Greenville Regional Hospital recently welcomed Certified Nurse Midwife Elizabeth Nolker to the Greenville Family Wellness Center. Nolker will deliver infants in the Greenville Regional Hospital Family Birth Center. She joins Certified Nurse Midwife Deb Morris, and OB-GYN specialists Dr. Ramon G. Lopez and Dr. Dawn M. McDaid.

VFW BLOOD DRIVE

 

VFW Post 1377 hosted an American Red Cross blood drive recently. Thirty-one people registered with twenty-eight units collected. An eight-gallon pin was presented to Mary Chappel and a two-gallon pin was awarded to Sarah Mulholland. Billy Rench received a blood drop pin as a first-time donor.

OBITUARIES

ALVIN LANGHAM

 

Alvin "A.J." Langham, age 87, of Tamalco, passed away Monday, January 18 at Fair Oaks Nursing Home. Memorial services for 87 year-old Alvin "A.J." Langham will be Saturday, at 11:00 a.m. at Young Funeral Home in Greenville with military rites by Keyesport American Legion Post 1994. Visitation will be Friday, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home . Memorials may be made to the Tamalco Christian Church or the American Farm Heritage Museum.

 

GERALD L. RITCHIE

 

Gerald L. Ritchie, age 62, of Highland, passed away Sunday, January 17 at his residence.  A private memorial service is planned for 62 year-old Gerald Ritchie.  Burial will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.  Friends may call Friday, from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland.  Memorials are suggested to the Disabled Veterans of America, United Warriors Survivor Foundation, American Diabetes Association, or to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Joseph A. "Brownie" Richter, age 71, of Breese, passed away Sunday, January 17.  A funeral Mass for 71 year-old Joseph A. "Brownie" Richter will be Thursday, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese.  Friends may call Wednesday, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. and Thursday, from 8:00 - 10:30 a.m. at the Hempen Funeral Home in Breese.
