ALHAMBRA WOMEN CHARGED
An Alhambra woman has been charged in Madison County with financial exploitation of an elderly person. According to a press release from the Madison County Sheriff's office, Meredith Sharp, age 47, of Alhambra, was employed by Hitz Memorial Home in Alhambra. While there, Sharp allegedly used a resident's credit card and made several purchases. Sharp also allegedly forged the resident's signature to remove money from at least two different bank accounts. The total amount taken under fraudulent circumstances totals over $16,000. Sharp, also wanted on an outstanding warrant, was taken into custody January 15 and bond was set at $75,000. An investigation into Sharp's activities while she was at the nursing home continues.

William Maxwell "Butch" Thomas, age 67, of Greenville, passed away Tuesday, January 26 at his residence. Funeral services for 67 year-old William "Butch" Thomas will be Saturday, at 11:00 a.m. at Meridith Funeral Home in Pocahontas. Burial will in Hug Cemetery in Millersburg with full military honors. Visitation will be Friday, from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, from 8:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home .
