THEFT AND UNUSUAL ACCIDENT THIS PAST WEEKEND
The Bond County Sheriff's Department is investigating a theft that was reported Saturday afternoon. According to the police blotter, two tractor radiators, valued between $200 and $300, were reported stolen from 1275 Oak Grove Road. The theft is under investigation. The Sheriff's Department also responded to an accident on HillCrest Drive Saturday morning. Around 9:00 a.m., a woman went out to start and warm-up her 2001 Nissan Maxima. She claimed she set the parking brake and then went back into her residence. After she came back out, the car rolled down a hill and crashed into a carport across the road, taking out the support poles and leaving the roof resting on top of the vehicle. No one was injured and when the Nissan was inspected, the parking brake was still on.
FEBRUARY PRECIPITATION TOTALS FOR GREENVILLE
Greenville received an average of 1.6 inches of rain and 11.58 inches of snow in February. Compared with statistics from the past 43 years, February 2010 showed less rain than any February since 1995 except 2006 which was a very dry month with only .56 inches of rain. February 2010 snow totals were seventh highest when compared with the same month over the past 43 years. Of the 43 years of records, dating back to 1967, only Februarys in 2008, 2003, 1993, 1984, 1982, and 1969 had more snow.
LADY BLUEJAYS WIN FIRST GAME OF VOLLEYBALL REGIONAL
The Greenville Junior High Lady Bluejays volleyball team won the first game of the Staunton Regional Monday night. The Lady Bluejays beat Madison in two games and will play Staunton at 6PM in the Regional Championship Tuesday night in Staunton.
