ILLINOIS HEALTH DEPARTMENT WARNS OF CONTAMINATED RAW MILK

The Illinois Department of Public Health warns of the potential of illness associated with consumption of raw milk.  Since early March, the Michigan Department of Community Health has identified 18 outbreak-related illnesses in south and southeast Michigan, eleven of which are confirmed to contain harmful bacteria.  Anyone experiencing gastrointestinal illness they believe to be associated with drinking raw milk should see their family doctor and report the illness to the local health department.  Pasteurization is the best method of eliminating disease-causing organisms in milk.  You should use only milk and milk products that have been pasteurized.
