MEMORIAL GOLF SCRAMBLE SET FOR MAY
The seventh annual Utlaut Memorial Foundation Charitable Golf Scramble will be Friday, May 14 at Indian Springs Golf Course in Fillmore. Registration begins at 10:00 a.m. and lunch will follow at 11:00. The scramble will kick off at noon with a shotgun start. Registration fees for teams of four golfers are $90.00 each or $360.00 per team. Prizes will be awarded and sponsorship opportunities are available. BELLEVILLE MAN CHARGED WITH COUNTERFEITING
Ramon Thomas, age 33, of Belleville was charged April 6, by a federal grand jury, with alleged manufacturing counterfeit obligation, possession of counterfeit obligations, and passing counterfeit obligations. The incidents allegedly occurred November 2, 2009 and January 16, 2010. Thomas faces a penalty of up to 20 years imprisonment, a fine of up to $250,000.00, or both, and a term of up to three years supervised release for each count.

ACCIDENT ON RT 143 WITH INJURIES
Bond County Officers responded to an accident, Tuesday at 1:28 p.m., on Rt. 143 at Bob White Road. According to the report, Daniel T. Wegman, age 57, of Pocahontas, was eastbound on Rt. 143 in a 1996 Ford pick-up truck when his truck hit the rear of a Freightliner grain truck, driven by Wayne A. Johnson, age 68, of Paris, Illinois. The grain truck had missed a turn and was waiting on the side of the road to back into a drive and turn around. Johnson told police he saw the pick-up coming and knew it was going to hit his truck but did not have time to move. Highland-Pierron EMS transported Wegman to St. Joseph Hospital in Highland for treatment.
