SINGLE-CAR ACCIDENT CLAIMS LIFE OF TROY WOMAN

 

A single-vehicle accident in St. Clair County claimed the life of a Troy Illinois woman Tuesday night.  The time of the accident is unknown but the car was discovered by an off-duty St. Clair County Officer around 9:23 p.m. Tuesday.  23 year-old Jessica Muniz was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by the St. Clair County Coroner’s official.  According to the police, the cause of the accident is unknown, but the car left the Troy-Scott Roadway near Lebanon, went through some brush, crossed a creek and hit the embankment on the other side of the creek.  The accident remains under investigation.

BOND COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY BENEFIT BANQUET

 

A benefit titled "Putting on the Ritz for Fritz" will be Friday, May 14 at the First Presbyterian Church in Greenville, raising funds for the Bond County Humane Society's new building. Please reserve your seats by May 8. Prices for adults are $15.00 and youth 12 and under $7.00. "Standing Room Only," an acappella group from Greenville High School will provide entertainment. NATIONAL ROAD TO CELEBRATE TOURISM WEEK

 

The National Road Association of Illinois is packing its bags for a busy week of activities to observe National Travel and Tourism Week, May 8-16.  There will be a road tour May 10-11 with stops in towns along the National Road in Illinois.  The tour begins at 9:00 a.m. May 10 at the Brownstown Village Hall and continues with stops at St. Elmo, Altamont, Effingham, Greenup, Casey, Martinsville, and Marshall.  The May 11 tour starts at 9:00 a.m. at the Interpretive Center in Vandalia and includes stops in Mulberry Grove, Greenville, Pocahontas, Highland, St. Jacob, Troy and Collinsville.  For more information about the caravan, call 618-664-9343.

JOHN B. DUFF

 

John B. Duff, age 82, of Hillsboro, formerly of Greenville, passed away Thursday, May 6 at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.  Funeral services for 82 year-old John Duff will be Sunday, at 4:00 p.m. at the Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield.  Burial will be in Cedar Ridge Cemetery in Honey Bend.  Friends may call Sunday, from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
