RELAY FOR LIFE TO BE HELD FRIDAY AND SATURDAY
The 2010 Bond County Relay for Life is this Friday and Saturday at the Bond County Fairgrounds. The first event is the survivor dinner at 5:00 p.m. and the opening ceremony is at 6:00. The relay continues until 6:00 a.m. Saturday. Some staples of the relay will be there again this year, like the survivor lap just before 7:00 p.m. There will be an auction to help raise funds, the luminaria ceremony around 9:00 p.m., games, music and plenty for the kids to enjoy as well. The Bond County Relay for Life is this Friday and Saturday. Come be a part of a great event and help the fight against cancer.
PLAN COMMISSION PUBLIC HEARING
The Greenville Plan Commission will convene a public hearing Monday, June 28 at 7:00 p.m. at the Municipal Building. The hearing is to consider a preliminary plat approval of “Rolling Acres First Addition” subdivision in Central Township. For additional information, call 664-1644.

EXCHANGE STUDENT FROM BRAZIL STAYING AT GREENVILLE FARM
An exchange student from Brazil is staying at a local family farm and learning U.S. farming techniques and culture. Darlan Enese, age 22, from Monto Grasso, Brazil, is part of an exchange program with the University of Illinois to learn more about agriculture. Darlan is an agronomy student at a university in Brazil. He came to the U.S. May 12 and spent some time brushing up on his English. May 26, he came to stay at the farm of C.W. and Edie Gaffner of Greenville. He will stay with the Gaffners until June 6 and will go back to Brazil July 3. Darlan has enjoyed his time in the U.S., especially Edie Gaffner’s cooking. Darlan will graduate in August with an Agronomy Degree. Brazil produces corn, soybeans and cotton, among other crops, and is one of the fastest growing agricultural nations in the world.
