GREENVILLE REGIONAL HOSPITAL AUXILIARY MEETING 

 

The Greenville Regional Hospital Auxiliary will hold their quarterly General Membership Meeting on Monday June 7th. The business session will begin at 7pm in the Greenville Regional Hospital Community room. Auxiliary volunteers, members, and the public are invited to attend. There will be a light meal at 6pm that is free of charge. Those planning to attend to meal need to call 664-1230 ext 3003 by noon on June 7th. The special guest will be Hospital President and Chief Executive Officer Bill Bruce. Reports on the operation and finances of the Auxiliary will be presented, and plans for future projects will be discussed.

HILLS FORT SOCIETY YOUTH ACTIVITIES DAYS

 

The Hills Fort Society is sponsoring two days of youth activities Friday and Saturday, June 11-12 at the American Farm Heritage Museum site. Registration starts at 9:30 each day.  Activities geared toward earning badges and learning new skills will be of interest to scouts and 4-H members.  Stations demonstrating photography, basket, rope, pottery and candle making, metal and leather working, stamp collecting, folk music, and more will be offered.  Not all demonstrations may be offered both days.  The Lil Red Barn Museum will be open and the train will be running.  Bring a sack lunch and stay for the day.  There is no admission charge.  For more information, call 664-9408.

BASEBALL COMETS NAMED TO ALL CONFERENCE TEAM

 

Not only were the Boys Baseball Comets Regional and Sectional champions, they also landed several players on the South Central Conference All-Conference Team. Among those selected to the first team were, Pitcher Senior Todd Eaton, Catcher Senior Blake Tebbe, First baseman Senior Andrew Mauer, Second Baseman Senior Trevor Suess, Third baseman Senior Josh Hudson, Shortstop Senior Todd Eaton, Outfielder Senior Brian Doll. The second team included Outfielders Cameron Dugan and Adam Stroud. The Comets lost in the Super Sectional Championship game to Harrisburg this past Monday but finished 33-6 for the season.

TRACTOR PULL IN RAMSEY

 

The Ramsey Lions Club is hosting a tractor pull Saturday, June 12, in the Lions Park, beginning with antique tractors at 9:00 a.m.  Farm stock tractors will pull beginning at 1:00 p.m. and local stock semis will follow.  There is no admission fee and the Lions Club will have food on the grounds.

GREENVILLE ZONING BOARD SCHEDULES PUBLIC HEARING

 

The Greenville Zoning Board of Appeals has scheduled a public hearing for  Tuesday, June 15 at 7:00 p.m. at the Greenville Municipal Building.  The hearing is to consider a request for a zoning variance at a residence on College Avenue.  For additional information, call 664-1644.

DWIGHT “SPIKE” EVANS

 

Dwight “Spike” Evans, age 79 of Carlyle, passed away on Thursday June 3rd at his residence. Funeral services for 79 year old Dwight “Spike” Evans will be Monday at 11am at the Carlyle Christian Church. Burial will be in Carlyle Cemetery. Visitations was held Sunday at Zieren Day Funeral Home and will be held Monday from 9:30am until time of service at the church. Memorials may be made to Carlyle Christian Church, Case-Halstead Library, or VNA/Tip Hospice.

 

OLIVE COOK

 

Olive A. Cook, age 84 of Greenville, passed away Thursday, June 3rd at Fair Oaks. Funeral services for 84 year old Olive Cook were Sunday at 2pm at Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial in Mt. Auburn Cemetery. Visitation was Saturday from 5 to 8pm at Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Bond County Hospice or Crohn’s Disease.

 

NINA E. KOONCE

 

Nina E. Koonce age 93 of Greenville and formerly of Mulberry Grove passed away Saturday June 5th at Fair Oaks Nursing Home in Greenville.  Funeral services for 93 year old Nina Koonce will be Wednesday June 9th at 11AM at First Church of Christ in Mulberry Grove, and burial will be in Maxey Cemetery in Smithboro.  Friends may call Tuesday from 6-8PM at Young Funeral Home.  Memorials are suggested to Bond County Hospice or Fair Oaks Nursing Home.
