CLINTON COUNTY MAN EXCELLS IN TRACK
When the NCAA National Championships in track gets underway this week at the University of Oregon, a local Clinton County man will be competing in the discus, Jake Deiters, a junior at Southern Illinois in Carbondale and former Mater Dei athlete, qualified for the national competition and is currently ranked number 8 in the country. Jake’s parents, Larry and Darla Deiters, own NACO Printing in Greenville. The National Championship discus competition will happen around noon Wednesday June 9th.
GREENVILLE AUXILARY BOOK FAIR
The Greenville Regional Hospital Auxiliary’s 27th Annual Book fair is set for June 17th to the 19th in the at First Christian Church Family Life Center which is located at 1100 Killarney Drive in Greenville. The book fair will be open from 5pm to 9pm on Thursday June 17th, 6am to 8pm on Friday June 18th, and from 9am to 3pm on Saturday June 19th.
From 5pm to 5:30pm on Thursday adults and children over the age of 12 will be charged an “early-bird” admission fee of $6.50, after then admission is $3.00. There is no admission charge for adults or children on June 18th or 19th. Last year the event had record sales of over $13,000 and is one of the largest book fairs in the St. Louis area.
The majority of books sold will be priced at 75 cents. All children 12 and under will receive a coupon for two free children’s books. On June 19th books will be reduced 50 percent from 9am to noon, and a “close-out special” from noon to 3pm will allow shoppers to fill a grocery bag with books for $5.
Several items are still needed for the book fair and may be taken to the lobby of the Greenville Regional Hospital, Fair Oaks, the Greenville Regional Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Shop, along with several other locations around Greenville. GREENVILLE SOFTBALL PLAYERS MAKE ALL-CONFERENCE TEAMS
The 2010 South Central Conference Softball All-Conference Teams have been selected and include several Greenville players. On the first team are pitcher - Kay Koonce, catcher – Torie Roberts, Shortstop – Kelsey Kniepmann, and outfielder – Kristen Lohman. Making the second team are pitcher – Kayla Gray and 3rd base – Shay Smith.
