BODY FOUND BY VANDALIA CITY WORKERS

Monday morning two Vandalia City workers found a man’s body in the Vandalia City Rock Storage area on North 8^th Street.  According to Fayette County Coroner, Bruce Bowen, the body is believed to be that of 42 year old Brian Tuttle of Vandalia who has been missing since May 19^th of this year.  Positive identification is expected soon, and will be based on examination of dental records.  Vandalia Police told WGEL Radio there were no signs of foul play at the scene but the investigation continues.  An autopsy is planned to help determine cause of death. 

MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT LEAVES MAN IN SERIOUS CONDITION

A motorcycle accident early Monday has sent an area man to the hospital with serious injuries. According to a  crash report from the Illinois State Police, around 7am, Timothy Stille, age 53 of Alhambra, riding a 2006 Honda motorcycle, was northbound on I-55 just south of milepost 20 in the left lane when he allegedly tried to avoid an object in the road, lost control, slide across the right lane and struck the guardrail. Stille was taken to Anderson Hospital in Maryville with serious injuries. Stille was wearing a helmet.

ROAD CLOSURE BOND/MADISON COUNTY

Road construction will mean a road closure near the Bond/Madison County Line on Thursday and Friday.  Baumann Road from I-70 to Pierron will be closed due to construction this Thursday and Friday.  The road is located in Saline Township. 

LAWN MOWER CATCHES FIRE

The Greenville Fire Department was called out around noon Wednesday to a report of a lawnmower on fire. According to Greenville Fire Chief Bill Johnston, a resident at 1299 Red Ball Trail called in that a 2004 riding mower had caught fire. After arrival, the fire was extinguished. No one was injured but the mower was a total loss and was valued at around $2,000. Firemen were on the scene for about one hour.

22 YEAR OLD FOUND DEAD IN VANDALIA HOME

A 22 year old Vandalia woman was found dead in her home Sunday.  Jessica Davis was last seen alive around 1AM very early on Sunday morning.  According to the Fayette County Coroner’s office the investigation into the cause of death continues, and an autopsy is planned.  Vandalia Police told WGEL that foul play is not suspected and there is no evidence it was a suicide.  The investigation continues to the cause of death for 22 year old Jessica Davis found dead in her Vandalia Home Sunday morning.
