REVIEW OF HEALTH INSURANCE PREMIUMS

The Illinois Department of Insurance announced recently that it has applied for a federal grant to support the fepartment’s efforts to enhance the collection, public disclosure, and analysis of health insurer premium increases in Illinois. This grant will allow the department to establish the infrastructure and protocols necessary to collect, publish, and analyze premium information so Illinois consumers and policymakers are better informed about health insurance premium rates and rate increases, health care costs, utilization trends, and health plan benefit designs. The 1 million dollar grant should be available by August 9, 2010.

NATIONAL ROAD TO PRESENT PLAQUES IN TROY

The National Road Association selected three sites in Troy for inclusion in it's Art and Architecture Tour. A plaque presentation will be Tuesday, July 20 at 7:00 p.m. at the Tri-Township Library in conjunction with the Troy Historical Society meeting. The three sites receiving plaques are the Jarvis House, the Carney House, and the Adams Store ghost sign. Since August 2007, a committee has been identifying 100 locations along the historic National Road in Illinois that are the best representations of art and architecture. Similar presentations will be made in other National Road communities over the coming months.

KEYESTONE PIPELINE FLOWING

Oil is flowing in the new Keyestone pipeline that runs just south of Greenville. According to the Trans Canada website, the oil starting flowing June 30 from Alberta Province, Canada to Patoka, Illinois.

Eldon W. Snyder, age 65, of Livingston, passed away Thursday, July 15 at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield. Funeral services for 65 year-old Eldon Snyder will be Monday, at 11:00 a.m. at Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home in Greeville. Burial will be in Noffsinger Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.

EUGENE E. STABENOW  

Eugene E. Stabenow, age 77, of Marine, passed away Wednesday, July 14 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Chesterfield, MO. Funeral services for 77 year-old Eugene Stabenow will be Wednesday, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Jerome Catholic Church in Troy. Burial will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday, from 8:00 - 9:30 a.m. at the church. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or to the family.

KEVIN E. KELLERMANN

Kevin E. Kellermann, age 52, of Woodlawn, IL, passed away Wednesday, July 14 at his residence. Funeral services for 52 year-old Kevin Kellermann were Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church in Carlyle.  Burial was in the Carlyle Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, SSM Hospice of the Good Samaritan or to Messiah Lutheran Church Building Fund.

MARK L. FELDMANN

Mark L. Feldmann, age 89, of Carlyle, passed away Thursday, July 15 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese. A Mass of Christian burial for 89 year-old Mark Feldman will be Monday, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Carlyle. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be Monday, from 8:00 - 9:30 a.m. at Zieren Day Funeral Home. The Knights of Columbus prayed the rosary Sunday at St. Mary’s Church. The Beckemeyer American Legion held a prayer service Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Church or to Mater Dei High School.

MARY L. STIENKAMP

Mary L. Steinkamp, age 79, of Carlyle, passed away Thursday, July 15 at her residence. Funeral services for 79 year-old Mary Steinkamp were Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church in Carlyle. Burial was in the Carlyle Cemetery. Memorials aresuggested to the Messiah Lutheran Church Pre-school, or the Messiah Lutheran Church.

Carl Vogel, age 80, of rural New Douglas, passed away Saturday, July 17 at Christian Northeast Hospital in St. Louis.  Funeral services for 80 year-old Carl Vogel will be Thursday, at 11:00 a.m. at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Livingston.  Burial will be in Sunny Side Cemetery in Sorento.  Friends may call Wednesday, from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Lesicko Funeral Home in Livingston.

Myrtle C. Zweck, age 96, of Alhambra, formerly of Pocahontas, passed away Sunday, July 18 at the Hitz Home in Alhambra.  Funeral services for 96 year-old Myrtle Zweck will be Wednesday, at 11:00 a.m. at the Meridith Funeral Home in Pocahontas.  Burial will be in Robinson Cemetery in Pocahontas.  Friends may call Tuesday, from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday, from 8:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
