HEAT ADVISORY
The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for St. Louis and the entire metro area, including the entire WGEL listening area, from 10:00 a.m. Tuesday to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday. Temperatures are expected to be near 100 degrees with heat indices between 107 and 112 degrees. You should to stay indoors in an air conditioned environment, drink plenty of water, abstain from alcoholic beverages, check on elderly or shut in persons and also check on pets that are outdoors.
ACCIDENT IN CLINTON COUNTY CLAIMS LIFE OF KINCAID WOMAN AND SENDS TWO GREENVILLE RESIDENTS TO THE HOSPITAL
A head-on crash on Route 127 claimed the life of a Kincaid, Illinois woman Friday evening and sent two Greenville residents to the hospital. According to the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department, the head-on crash happened about 5:00 p.m. Friday on Route 127 near Emerald Road. 55 year-old Sandra Daum of Kincaid, Illinois was a passenger in the northbound vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Clinton County Coroner. The driver of the second vehicle was Nancy McElroy, age 63, of Greenville, and Eva Hilpert, age 73, also of Greenville, was a passenger in McElroy’s car. Both were transported to an area hospital and later taken to St. Louis University Hospital for treatment of injuries.
JULY IS SECOND WETTEST MONTH OF 2010
According to records from the Greenville Waste Water Treatment Plant, Greenville received almost three inches less rain in July than in June. July is the second wettest month of the year after June with average rainfall for June at 7.9 inches and 5.07 inches for July. When compared with records from the past 43 years, July 2010 ranks 16th with fifteen other years showing more rain than this July.
