CITY OF GREENVILLE SELLING REAL ESTATE

 

The City of Greenville gives notice it is accepting sealed bids for the sale of certain surplus vacant real property.  One parcel is located along Third and Water Streets and the other parcel is along Louis Latzer Drive.  The deadline to submit a bid is 12:00 noon September 9.  Bids shall be sent to: City of Greenville, Attention Sue Ann Nelson-City Clerk, 404 South Third Street, Greenville, IL  62246.  For more information, contact the Greenville City Hall at 664-1644.


PAWS-IN-THE-PARK COMING IN SEPTEMBER

 

The annual Paws-in-the-Park and Wag-N-Walk fund raising event is scheduled for Saturday, September 11 at Patriot’s Park.  Events this year include some new contests, a cutest pet photo contest, personalized paw prints, flyball demos, and police K-9 demonstrations.  A micro-chipping clinic will be available along with an agility course.


HISTORICAL SOCIETY CHURCH PROGRAM AND POTLUCK

 

The Bond County Historical Society 11th annual historical church program and potluck is Tuesday at the Pocahontas United Methodist Church.  The potluck starts at 6:00 p.m. in the fellowship hall and you’re asked to bring a covered dish. The historical program starts at 7:00 p.m. in the church.  Pastor Dave Trover and several church members will highlight the 190 year history of the church and Kevin Kaegy will talk about the Birger gang and their robbery of the Pocahontas State Bank in 1926.




KASKASKIA COLLEGE SCHOOL BOARD MEETING 

The Kaskaskia College Board meeting will be Thursday, August 19 at 7:00 p.m. at the Clinton Wedekemper Board Room. A dinner is scheduled at 5:30 p.m. with a public hearing on the budget to follow. Agenda items include approval of disbursements and payroll, treasurer’s report, budget report and President's report. The board will consider adoption of the annual budget for 2010-2011, approval to remodel and renovate the Crisp Technology Center, approval to proceed to expand the KC Education Center in Trenton, and approval of a contractor for the Greenhouse renovation.

ELEANOR T. WIEGMAN

 

Eleanor T. Wiegman, age 95, of Carlyle, passed away Monday, August 16 at Carlyle Healthcare Center in Carlyle. A Mass of Christian burial for 95 year-old Eleanor Wiegman will be Wednesday, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Carlyle. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday, from 8:00 - 10:30 a.m. at Zieren Day Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Mater Dei High School, All Saints Academy, Hospice of Southern Illinois, or the Arthritis Foundation.

 

LEONA C. RICHTER

 

Leona C. Richter, age 88, of New Baden, passed away Saturday, August 14 at Clinton Manor Living Center in New Baden. A funeral Mass for 88 year-old Leona Richter will be Tuesday, at 10:00 a.m. at St. George Catholic Church in New Baden. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery. Visitation is this evening from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. and Tuesday, from 8:00 - 9:30 a.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Trenton. Memorials are suggested to St. George Catholic Church.

 

RUTH W. MEYER

 

Ruth W. Meyer, age 88, of New Baden, formerly of Belleville, passed away Friday, August 13. Funeral services for 88 year-old Ruth Meyer will be Tuesday, at 10:00 a.m. at Zion United Church of Christ in New Baden. Burial will be in Valhalla Garden of Memory in Belleville. Visitation is today from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday, from 8:00 - 9:30 a.m. at Hempen Funeral Home in New Baden.

 

FRANCES SUSSENBACH

 

Frances L. Sussenbach, age 83 of Greenville, passed away Sunday, August 15th at Memorial Hospital in Belleville. Funeral Services for 83 year old Francis Sussenbach will be Thursday at 11am at The Greenville First Christian Church. Burial will be in Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Greenville. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 8pm at the church. Memorials may be made to the Intensive Care Unit at Belleville Memorial Hospital. Young Funeral Home in Greenville is in charge of the arrangements.

 

DOROTHY GARWOOD

 

Dorothy J. Garwood, age 76 of Worden, passed away Monday, August 16th at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. Funeral services for 76 year old Dorothy Garwood will be Friday at 11am at Lesicko Funeral Home in Livingston. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Staunton. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 8pm at Lesicko Funeral Home in Livingston.
