GREENVILLE REGIONAL HOSPITAL TAKES STEPS TO CURB SPREAD OF INFLUENZA

Greenville Regional Hospital officials are asking you to join them in the fight against the spread of the flu virus.  The flu is spread through droplets produced by coughs, sneezes, or speaking.  Surgical masks, hand sanitizer, and facial tissue are available at all entrances to the hospital.  If you visit the hospital and have flu-like symptoms, please put on a mask and use the sanitizer.  According to Health and Infection Control Coordinator Bonnie Thierry, “A flu shot is the only way to properly immunize yourself against influenza.”  The vaccine is available in two forms, a flu shot or nasal spray and is recommended for all healthcare workers.  International Infection Prevention Week is October 18-22 and the Bond County Health Department is providing flu vaccinations at various times and locations.  Flu shots are $30.00 for Bond County residents and $35.00 for non-residents.  Contact the Bond County Health Department at 664-1442 for a date and location convenient to you.

ZONING RECOMMENDS TWO VARIANCES

Tuesday night, the Greenville Zoning Board of Appeals recommended two variance requests for city council consideration. The recommendations are for a setback to allow an attached deck for a resident on McAdams Street and for an extension of time for the St. Joseph Hospital of Breese temporary medical building on Route 127 until next April, so they may complete negotiations on a permanent location.  The city council will probably vote on those recommendations at their next meeting.
